Laura creates a space where individuals can simultaneously feel vulnerable and strong- where clients are encouraged to express feelings but also to identify personal strengths. Laura's style is supportive and authentic. She often uses her sense of humor to model self-acceptance and non-judgment when challenging harsh, critical self-talk. She also understands the complex ways that minds and bodies respond to and remember various life experiences and works with individuals who have become stuck, lost or afraid. Through verbal discussion and/or artistic expression clients will shift self-criticism to self-curiosity, challenge fears that prevent change, understand core beliefs and unhealthy thinking patterns, relieve tension stored in the body, learn new ways to self-soothe, embrace the range of emotional experience, develop distress tolerance skills, identify authentic values, work to enhance relationships (to self and others), and explore spiritual connections. Laura also seeks to help individuals who are feeling disempowered, disconnected or isolated. She helps individuals reconnect to their intuition- the inner voice that says- do I want another bite? what color should I wear? do I trust this person? should I take this risk? am I okay? Laura believes that individuals can gain a sense of mastery in a very unpredictable world when they are connected to this inner wisdom.
