Event Description
This presentation will define chronic pain and teach you to understand and assess chronic pain from a comprehensive social, environmental, and individual perspective. These tools can be used with individuals seeking behavioral health and psychotherapeutic approaches to managing or treating chronic pain. This presentation will also provide an introduction to formulating a multicomponent treatment plan for patients seeking chronic pain treatment and/or management.

At the completion of this training, you will be able to:

    1. Conceptualize pain from emotional, cognitive, and neurological perspectives
    2. Assess social, environmental, and individual contributors to pain
    3. Formulate an individual treatment plan based on a multicomponent therapeutic approach

Instructor Bio
Dr. Clark-Sienkiewicz received her Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Wayne State University in 2019. She completed her internship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI, and her Postdoctoral work at Arizona State University. She is a Licensed Psychologist in the states of Missouri and Utah. During her graduate studies, she specialized in relationships and health. She is a published researcher in the field of Health Psychology. Specifically, she has studied treatments for chronic pain, health behavior change interventions, and the impact of relationships on health. Her work has been featured in the Journal of Clinical Psychology in Medical Settings, the Journal of Racial and Ethnic Health Disparities, The Journal of Pain, and in the book Social and interpersonal dynamics in pain: We don’t suffer alone (Chapter 13.
